"I just wanted to let you know that we were very pleased with our visit to Scotland. The car service was the best we have ever experienced. Robin Murray is a delightful person and could not have been more helpful or accommodating. The Creag Dubh Guest House in Inverary was outstanding. The house and gardens were beautifully done, with a spectacular view. The housekeeping was impecable. The hosts could not have been nicer.

We enjoyed the other accomodations as well. The St. Valery in Edinburgh was lovely. The Acorn House in Inverness was very homey. I appreciate all of your help and will definitely use On-Line Scotland for future visits."

"...the information we received through On-Line Scotland, was by far the best"

"I am not sure if my earlier mail went through but I want to thank you again for all your help in booking accommodation for our trip to Scotland particularly for Borlum Farm and Thistle Guest House.

St. Valery Guest House
The St. Valery Guest House is a New Town building situated in the heart of Edinburgh's West End.
It is within walking distance of Princes Street, Edinburgh Castle and all the main shopping and sight-seeing areas, including the Royal Mile.

Although we had purchased several travel books prior to our trip, the information we received through On-Line Scotland, which I found by doing a search of the Internet prior to our trip, was by far the best. At first I was a little sceptical that it would work booking through a service like this, but actually it turned out far better than a travel agent or phone calls.

Not only did we get a chance to see on-line where we would be staying (rather than reading a description in a travel book) but we could get a great deal more personalized info. Our only mistake I think was that we did not book more reservations beyond the Thistle Guest House and Borlum Farm for our stay. There were several times on our trip where I wished that when it was late in the day and we were looking for a nice hotel or guest house on our route. In fact, so good were the Borlum Farm and the Thistle House that we booked an extra day at each upon arriving and seeing how accurate the descriptions were in the On-Line Scotland presentations.

Reflecting back, and being a recent but big user and advocate of Internet commerce, I really think this is the way to go in sizing up accommodations or booking a trip to a foreign country. I now know that my initial fears in giving out my credit card number over the Internet for reservations were unfounded, and again, my only mistake was in not making more use of the On Line Scotland services.

In particular, if you are in communications with Valerie Archibald at the Thistle House, please thank her again for all her help and assistance and hospitality when we visited there. Valerie is a mountain of enthusiasim, and was extremely helpful on our trip to Edinburgh.

Meeting her and her family on our first day to Scotland (this was our first trip) provided us with such a positive image of the Scotish culture and the city. Although we could tell from her On-Line Scotland page that the Thistle home was probably a welcome place for families, encountering her daughter Nadine and their labrador retriever upon arrival affirmed that.

It will be hard for me to forget Nadine's offer of a popsicle to my daughter Emily or the trip they took to a playground at a nearby park. My father in-law who accompanied us on the trip still can't get over talking about his introduction to a full Scottish breakfast at the Thistle House. The rooms were well kept, quiet, and the house within easy reach of downtown (Valerie even told us where to park for free). What a find!

Kirklee Hotel, Glasgow
Personally managed by the resident proprieters, this small, private hotel forms part of a fine West End residential terrace, situated within one of the city's most outstanding conservation areas.

I could go on in the same vein about Borlum Farm as well (I don't think we would ever have caught that they had a separate studio appartment connected with the Borlum Farmhouse, except for the On-Line Scotland page - WOW, what a gem that was for a family of 5 travelling together to stay in, and what great porridge!), but I think I've made my point and will stop here. Thank you very much again for the help and the service. I would not hesitate to use it again nor to recommend it to my friends in the USA. Keep up the good work!!"
